An easy way to save money while sticking to your style is to just reuse objects around your house. Much of the furniture we see in the living room everyday could look great in other rooms as well.
For my project I took an old bookshelf from the shed in the backyard. I painted the shelf white and replaced the boring background with some floral gift wrap we had. According to the book, Young House Love, a backdrop can create a different atmosphere for a space.
I also created curtains from bed sheets I found at Goodwill with my mom. Any material can be used to create new objects. For example, reclaimed floorboards can become a kitchen table or wall paneling.
