The Science of Hitting
My book I have chosen for this quarter 2 IRP project is "The Science of Hitting" by Ted Williams. I have chosen this book because I am not very good at hitting and I really need work.
In this picture, I am demonstrate the hand position that the book explains how I should position them to get the most out of the swing. the quote is "I kept my left elbow straight back, the upper arm perpendicular to the body. I felt it gave me that umph, that little extra something to get the bat moving." (Williams 36). This piece of information in the book helped me place my hands in the correct spot. By putting my hands in this position, it indeed does help get the most out of the swing, rather than if I were to put them below my chest, and my right elbow down.
Question: The last time you failed in something that you wanted to achieve, did you take that opportunity to learn from it and right your wrongs?
this looks like a good start to becoming a god baseball player
ReplyDeletethanks nigel.
DeleteWowie, this post was inspiring. It made me think of a time when I made a mistake and learned from it.
ReplyDeletethank you for your kind words Emily. everyday we should learn from our mistakes.
DeleteI remember when I had first tried out baseball and I was terrible. But I did learn from my wrongs and was able to get the highest batting average on my team by the end of the year as well as taking the first place spot in our league. On the topic of form, having good form while batting is very important as it allows for a more accurate hit on the ball. Though I always thought the hardest part of playing baseball was being on defense and catching the balls being hit.
ReplyDeletewow Dilon. that's inspiring of you to go from the bottom to the top. that's not an easy thing to do. thank you for sharing this experience with us.
DeleteHi, Zach. It is very inspiring seeing that you are trying to turn one of your weaknesses into one of your strengths through the book you have chosen and this blog.
ReplyDeletewhat's good ethan, thanks for the words man. I try to always get better.
DeleteGreat post Zach! I also played baseball for a long time and was never that great at batting. Although I no longer play, I think it's great that you're using this project to improve. Keep working at it!
ReplyDeletethanks William! I remember playing you in little league, and I think you struck me out haha. batting is a hard thing to do.
