As I was learning the guitar, these pages that I came upon, showed strumming the guitar, but I wasn't supposed to strum the whole bar. The book said "As you strum from different areas from the bar, your chord will be either higher or lower, not when you strum the whole chord, it sounding like a combination," (Guitar method book, 56). This surprised me and as I strummed more, I found that the book was right! as I strummed only the last five strings and not all the six, for the chord I have on the picture below, the whole chord was higher. It became one of my favorites because it was a beautiful sounding, higher note. "The more separated the notes become and the more you blend the different pitches of notes together, they will sound like a beautiful combination," (Guitar method book, 60). my book said, and it was right. it was beautiful and I loved it! it was almost as I was playing a whole symphony of different pitches and tones. Would it make sense if I combined deeper chords with higher chords? Do you think it would sound nice together?
