Post 2: proper ways to hold the guitar:

In this photo, I have learned chords A and D. but I am basing this blog post on the proper way to hold a guitar. "There are several way to hold the guitar comfortably. Make sure you practice sitting and standing." (Guitar Method Book 1, pg. 4). In these photos I am practicing standing, which is one of the ways you can practice adjusting to the guitar. standing was hard for me because I have yet to buy a guitar string, which would make it a lot easier for me. the hardest when it came to standing up with the guitar in my hand, was to keep the same amount of pressure on my strings as I tried to keep my hand open enough so the sounds could come out nicely. another piece of information I learned "keep the body as vertical as possible." (Guitar Method Book 1, pg. 4). this was hard for me because when I kept my body vertical, it was harder for me to see where I had to place my fingers on the guitar, but after some practice, I realized it wasn't as hard as I thought after practicing more and more. Would the music come out differently from the different ways I hold the guitar? how will the notes change if so?

  1. Looks good, Anika! That's a really pretty guitar, too. You posture looks really great, a straight back posture is good for you playing quality and for your back. One thing I would say is to bring the guitar body a little closer to your own body. This always makes my playing sound and feel better, in my experience. Way to go, keep learning those chords!
