Final Post!

My final post is going to be a simple reflection and pros/cons kinda post.
I did like the fact that I chose something a little different and out of my comfort zone for this IRP. It was definitely difficult to keep track of my schedule for running and walking because of the holidays and then finals. Would I recommend this book and the program it advises? I think that would depend on who was going to try it. A lot of the information is general and applies to almost anyone wanting to run, but the daily schedule of running and walking might be too much for some people. If you have time to dedicate for about a half hour walk every day, then I'd say go for it! Even a little exercise each day is beneficial and teaches discipline.

Here's a quick list of what I considered to be pros and cons.

Pros:                                                                            Cons
1. Easy to read/understand book                                 1. Hard to fit into a busy schedule
2. Structured plan for running/walking                       2. Difficult in very extreme weather
3. No special tools or equipment needed                    3. Beginners with no experience may struggle at
4. Makes you more focused and disciplined                  first and have to readjust the first few days
5. Healthy dose of daily exercise                                4. Advanced runners may find the program too
6. Good for beginners and those more advanced           easy

As you can see, I feel the pros outweigh the cons. If you're someone looking to build up a little endurance and are motivated to fit more exercise into your schedule, you should at least read the book and try it for a few days. I think in the future, I will run or walk more because of this how-to book. The author of the book, Jeff Galloway, also gave great tips about how to eat healthier that I've integrated into my daily diet. Posting throughout this IRP has been a little difficult to remember but finishing it up hopefully doesn't mean that I forget to run a little extra now and then.

For anyone interested, the picture below is the cover of the e-book I used for the IRP.

  1. It was nice seeing a different type of post that talks about the book. I'm glad that it was able to help guide you into a more healthy lifestyle. I've also been trying to exercise as well, mostly just walking to the school every couple days. Though it may be a coincidence, I've been noticing that I have been feeling much more energetic lately.
