Learning the Basics & Strumming

So the main chords you see mostly are : D, G, C, Em (I think those are the basic ones x3).

Strumming

The way you would strum a guitar wouldn't be just an up and down movement over and over. It could all depend on the song. Strum orders like down, down, up, up, down, could be in songs which would also be a great start into creating a song.

Finger-Picking

Finger-picking or just plucking the string is also a style of playing the guitar. Weather using a pick or finger nails, it would be perfect for using the technique of finger-picking. I would say that finger-picking is hard, but once you get used to it, with more practice, you can be able to finger pick better than you did last time you attempted it. I felt like Finger-picking could have a different look/style by the way you do it, like there's no such thing as "Perfect", to what you're playing.

Playing The Chords

in order to play the chords right, and sound sharp, you need to press down on the string hard enough to get that tune in. well not too hard but just enough to make the tune of the strings sing (: For me, I started out pressing those strings hard. Then after a few days of practicing, I went over the chords and just played it like I didn't even practiced it.

(L): Pressing down hard
(R): Pressing down softly

Results

The results of playing guitar, well learning how to play a song, was like the most difficult thing on earth xD Those dents on your hands, the pain when you press down on the strings the next day when you want to play the guitar again. I mean, overall, things worked out. It was all worth it. But yeah, the photo on the bottom is what happens when you play a song on the guitar. Its not a big dent, but it sure does look like one. (I think)

ew mah hand o-o

  1. The post is interesting to read. I like how your post sounds like you are speaking to the reader. What was the title of your book, and is the guitar the first instrument you have learned to play?
