Approaching
the end of this IRP and writing this blog has led to some reflection on my
part. I am glad I have invested time in exercise, and not just running and
walking. Every day I do push-ups and crunches to hopefully build up a little
strength! I feel running, walking, and exercising daily has made me stronger
and healthier already, considering from where I started. Running and walking
longer distances is easier and I can successfully do 35 push-ups (that is a lot for me personally). But besides
that, I think this program is good for people who want to be more disciplined
and commit to a goal they were maybe unsure of in the past. Having a daily
schedule is difficult to follow and to remember, but following it properly
increases discipline and stamina. One nice thing about choosing this for the IRP
is that there’s no special equipment or tools needed. You can wear almost
anything and running around the neighborhood or at a park is obviously free.
This picture below is what I
generally wear to run:
It’s not
the most professional but I’m just jogging around my neighborhood, so it does
the job. Sometimes I don’t use a timer and dress for a focused run if I know
I’ll be doing an activity involving exercise sometime during the day. During
Martin Luther King Jr. Day, my family went to the beach and I walked/ran for a
very long time there and counted it as my exercise for the day.
